About Christine Goulbourne
Christine Goulbourne is a special needs mom, advocate, writer and speaker. Christine lives with her family in Florida. As a mother of a young man with autism, Christine knows it’s crucial for special needs parents to be informed of special education services, their rights, and all therapeutic and recreational services available. After receiving training from leading advocacy experts and serving on many councils and boards, Christine trains special needs parents to advocate for their child’s right to be educated and included. Christine believes a child’s success begins with meaningful parent involvement.
Christine has served as a special needs and inclusion advocate for over twenty years. She has attended many IEP (Individual Education Plan) meetings and helps parents learn about the special education process by modeling how to stay calm, confident, and maintain a collaborative and partnership mind. She demonstrates how special needs parents can be a team player in planning for their child’s education.
Christine has co-presented with experts at conferences about how to use the Positive Behavior Support planning process for successfully dealing with challenging behavior. Christine has a conflict resolution-centric mind that is appreciated and welcomed by educators and school administrators.
Christine’s love of writing goes back to when she was ten years old and her mother gifted her with a typewriter. She was hooked from the moment she typed the first letter and hasn’t stopped writing since! Starting a blog was a natural next step for providing special needs parents additional resourceful information.
Christine and her family are active members of their community. They are a blended family as her husband Kirk is Jamaican and she is a native New Yorker with both parents from Puerto Rico. In their home, there is always good music, good food and good vibes!
Together Christine and her husband Kirk have three kids, Samantha is the oldest. She is happily married and blessed Christine and Kirk with their Granddaughter, Charlotte and Grandson, Oliver! Their middle son is Richie, who is smart, funny and has autism. Richie was diagnosed at age three with autism and has been Christine's inspiration for advocating for him and other children with special needs and their families. Their youngest son is Tiki, is kind, sweet and very thoughtful. Christine believes God blessed her with a beautiful family.
Advocacy goes far beyond the scope of IEP meetings, or ramps and accessible stalls in our schools and communities. It’s in our home, it’s where we work, it’s at holiday reunions, and in everyday life. We created a website with a directory listing of sensory and disability friendly businesses and community based activities for the disability community.
Businesses can list their establishment as a disability friendly one who welcomes and accommodates the disability community.
Individuals with disabilities and their families can review and rate businesses and establishments on accommodations made, accessibility efforts, sensitivity towards patrons, and more.
Please free to join and list your business today!
Feel free to join as a General User and help other individuals with disabilities and their families find disability friendly businesses based on your review today!
The reality of an undeniable truth is that not everyone grasps the concepts of sensitivity, compassion and common courtesy. It must either be enforced by law or modeled with great leadership.
Our Mission:
"To provide information and resources to individuals and families of children with disabilities that assist them with participating in recreational and community activities."
Our Vision
"To live in inclusive communities that welcome individuals and families of children with disabilities to participate as equal and valued members of our society."
I believe all people should be treated equally and feel welcomed as patrons, employees and meaningful participants of their communities.

Statement of Faith:
I believe in one God as the creator of heaven and earth who exists as the Holy Trinity; the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. I believe the bible is the true word of God and his gift of guidance to us for walking a righteous path, living by the word of the gospel. I believe in Jesus Christ as the son of God, who lived a sinless life, who performed miracles of goodness, who died for our sins and was resurrected, and is seated at the right hand of our Father.
